Cosmos bipinnatus is an annual. Blossoms with tufted yellow centers and rays in white and shades of pink, rose, lavender, purple, or crimson, bloom in spring and summer. Deadhead to encourage more blooms. Cosmos will self-sow. It prefers full sun and well-draining soil.

'Rozanne' is a beautiful and heat tolerant perennial. It quickly reaches 1.5' tall and 2' wide. 2" wide, blue violet flowers with purple veins and white centers bloom in summer but will continue if fall if spent flowers are removed. Foliage is a bright green that is finely divided and delicate looking. This mounding plant does best in full sun but will appreciate afternoon shade in hot inland areas. It needs regular watering and more during hot summer months. It does best in fertile, moist, well draining soil. Looks great in containers, spilling over walls, and borders.

This ground cover/grass will grow less than 1' tall and has small, blue-green, evergreen leaves that are very thin and hair-like. Flowers appear in the summer but are insignificant. This dependable but short-lived ground cover prefers full sun in coastal areas and afternoon shade in warm inland areas. It needs well draining soil and is drought tolerant once it's established. Leaves may burn during the summer but trim in winter to keep it looking refreshed. Does not tolerate wet soil.
